Frances F. Townsend is Executive Vice President, Worldwide Government, Legal and Business Affairs of MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated. Prior to her current role, Ms. Townsend was a corporate partner at the law firm Baker Botts, LLP. She previously served as Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and chaired the Homeland Security Council from May 2004 until January 2008. Ms. Townsend spent thirteen years at the U.S. Department of Justice under the administrations of President George H. W. Bush, President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush. Ms. Townsend is on the board of directors for three public companies, serving on their compliance, audit, compensation and governance committees. She is also a member of the board of three private companies, serving in the capacity as board chairwoman for one, as well as chairing all three boards’ compensation committees. Ms. Townsend is a trustee of the New York City Police Foundation and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission and serves on numerous other government advisory and nonprofit boards. Ms. Townsend is an on-air analyst for CNN and has regularly appeared on network and cable television as a foreign policy, counter-terrorism, national and homeland security expert. After three years of study, Ms. Townsend graduated cum laude from American University, where she received a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Psychology. After accelerated study, Ms. Townsend received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
